The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has sanctioned the protocols and guidelines for the recently introduced Visa Scheme in the United Arab Emirates, coinciding with its official inauguration on Monday, October 3, 2022.
This action is a direct implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 65, which pertains to the operational regulations outlined in Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2021 regarding the entry and residency of non-nationals.
The ICP has meticulously outlined the prerequisites and regulations in executing this decision, alongside the operational procedures for the unified system encompassing tourist, medical, and educational entry visas. Furthermore, the ICP has affirmed that the formulation of these rules and criteria seeks to optimize strategic equilibrium in decision-making, aligning with governmental visions and directives through a collaborative methodology. This collaborative effort involves coordination with ICP’s partners to bolster individual and societal security, safety, and stability.
In his address on this occasion, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, highlighted how the new visa system resonates with the principles of the 50 and the objectives of UAE 2071 Centennial. He emphasized its promotion of values such as coexistence, tolerance, and human fraternity, while adapting to the evolving economic, political, and social landscapes both domestically and globally.
Al Khaili underscored that the system delineates the framework of the country’s visa structure for employment, tourism, medical treatment, and education, thereby elevating its stature and bolstering its regional and global competitiveness.
Moreover, Al Khaili noted that the conditions and regulations endorsed by the ICP were formulated following extensive analysis of governmental trends, with the aim of preempting security breaches and safeguarding society members, thereby preserving the UAE’s cohesive societal fabric and its reputation as an appealing nexus for commerce and tourism, an advocate of knowledge, and a pioneer in sustainable development and future planning.
He also highlighted how the newly introduced visas will spur development in the UAE by attracting entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, exceptional graduates, and students, thus reinforcing its reputation as a conducive environment for both work and residency.
