H.E. Juma Al Majid has occupied numerous significant roles in both governmental and semi-governmental sectors. These include positions such as Chairman of the Dubai Economic Council, Vice Chairman of the UAE Central Bank, Vice Chairman of Emirates Bank International Ltd, Director of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Board Member of AI Nisr Publishing (Gulf News), among others.
Al Majid is widely recognized for his multifaceted contributions, encompassing business ventures and extensive philanthropic endeavors. His considerable support for education, acknowledged not only within the UAE but also globally, has earned him accolades. Notably, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, bestowed upon Al Majid the title of Islamic Personality of the Year during the 23rd edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award in 2019.
Displaying a deep philanthropic ethos, Juma Al Majid established the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies, providing free education opportunities. He also founded the National Charity School and initiated the first Culture and Heritage Centre in Dubai, now recognized as a pivotal global hub for scientific and cultural heritage. Additionally, Al Majid’s involvement as a member of the advisory committee for the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University underscores his commitment to scholarly pursuits.
Al Majid’s unwavering dedication to preserving literature and cultural heritage has been acknowledged through various prestigious awards, including the King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam (1990), the International Personality Award for Culture and Heritage Service from the Egyptian President (2000), and the Cultural Personality of the Year Award at the Qareen Cultural Festival in Kuwait (2005), among others. Furthermore, he was honored with the Recognition Award – Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed AI Nahyan in 2011.
